About Us:
Ted and Barbara Zimmerman began Zimm's
Bears & Hares over twenty years ago. When Barbara found out
that Ted had never had a teddy bear as a child, she set out
to make him one of his own. From that time on, their love of
making bears and hares grew. Barbara designed, made her own
patterns, finished faces and outfits for her creations and
Ted stuffed and installed hardware for the joints.
Collectors of their bears loved the look
of their antique-style teddy bears.
Sadly, Barbara passed away suddenly in
early 2004. She is greatly missed by all of her family,
friends and bear collectors alike.
A fellow crafter and doll maker, Teresa Groff, approached
Ted about finishing Barbara's remaining bears and hares.
Teresa was saddened to see the wonderful, joint venture of
Barbara and Ted's come to an end.
Teresa was willing to fit in making bears
along with helping her husband, Bill, with the care and
nurturing of their six children.
Ted was more than glad to see Zimm's
Bears & Hares continue.
Teresa is now finishing the mohair,
alpaca and man-made fur bears and rabbits that were in
various stages at the time that Barbara passed away. With
Ted's help and expertise, Teresa is now completing designs
of their own using original pattern and sewing clothes to
dress their creations.
Teresa would be glad
to do custom orders as well and welcomes suggestions and new
ideas.
